Going to Jordan, we cross the Allenby Bridge. In Jordan we first visit Mt. Nebo where Moses saw the promised land.short After a short drive to Madaba we  see the oldest mosaic map of the Holy Land and then continue southwards on the desert highway to Petra.

Visit Petra, a city with carved tombs on the side of the mountains surrounding it. After an unhurried visit in this place named as one of the 7 new wonders of the world, we travel to our hotel on the Jordan side of the Dead Sea.

Visit the likely site of Jesus’ baptism.  Crossing back into Israel we visit the recently excavated City of David.

SUN, Jun 14, 2020 Caesarea/Carmel/Meggido/Galilee
We travel along the Mediterranean to the ruins of Caesarea, built by Herod the Great. Paul was imprisoned here, Cornelius and his household lived here and Pilate lived here.  Next we visit Mt. Carmel where Elijah slew the prophets of Baal. We drive to Tel Megiddo, 30 civilizations deep, where we see a Canaanite altar, Ahab’s water tunnel and Solomon’s stables.

MON, Jun 15, 2020          Sepphoris/Nazareth
Galilee/Capernaum
In Nazareth we visit Mary’s well and the recreated Nazareth Village. We then visit nearby  ruins  of Sepphoris where Jesus may have worked alongside Joseph. We visit the foundations of a synagogue in Capernaum where Jesus taught. We also can still see the outline of Peter’s house here.

TUE, Jun 16, 2020 Tel Dan/Caesarea Philippi
Tabgha/Primacy of Peter/Mt. Beatitudes/Boat Ride Drive to Tel Dan where Jeroboam crafted a golden calf. Next we visit Caesarea Phillipi where surrounded by pagan altars, Peter confessed Christ. We return to Galilee to see the traditional spot where Jesus laid out a breakfast for the apostles and told Peter to "Feed my sheep,” visit the site of the Sermon on the Mount, and then end our day with an inspiring boat ride on the Sea of Galilee.

                                       Bedouin Lunch/Bethlehem
On the way to Jerusalem, we stop first at Gideon Springs where Gideon chose 300 men to fight the Midianites. Beth Sh’ean is next where the bodies of Saul and his sons were displayed on the walls after their Mount Gilboa defeat. We follow the Jordan Valley southward to Jericho where we ascend to Jerusalem near the ancient city of Jericho. Stopping in the Judean Wilderness, we have lunch in “Abraham’s” tent.  Continuing in Bethlehem we visit the Shepherds’ Fields, the Fields of Boaz and Ruth, and the Church of the Nativity, site of Jesus’ birth.

THU, Jun 18, 2020 Jerusalem /Old City
On the Mount of Olives, the place of the Ascension, we orient ourselves with Jerusalem’s layout and visit the Garden of Gethsemane. We proceed to the Temple Mount on Mt. Moriah and visit the archeological site at the Southern Wall and the Western Wall. We walk through the Kotel Tunnel to the Via Dolorosa and visit St. Stephen’s Gate, Pool of Bethesda, and the Chapel of the Flagellation. We follow the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulcre and then walk through the Oriental Bazaar to Mt. Zion and the Room of the Last Supper.

We visit the Shrine of the Book to see the Dead Sea Scrolls and visit a model of ancient Jerusalem. We visit Yad Vashem, the holocaust memorial, and in the afternoon, the Garden Tomb where we have communion and worship.

SAT, Jun 20, 2020 Dead Sea/Inn of Good Samaritan

Qumran/Masada
Today we stop first at the Inn of the Good Samaritan. Next we descend to the Dead Sea and visit the Essene ruins of Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. We continue to Ein Gedi, the area where David found shelter from the rage of King Saul.  Proceeding to Masada we ascend by cable car to visit the magnificent ruins of where Jewish zealots made their last stand against Rome in 70-73 AD. Afterwards we enjoy a short swim in the Dead Sea before returning to Jerusalem.
